Virtual events have come into the spotlight ever since the coronavirus has brought life to a standstill. Major events like E3 2020, the event that allows game developers to showcase their new games and the Mobile World Congress 2020 (MWC 2020 for short) has also been cancelled owing to the pandemic. These events were the go-to platform for various companies to showcase their projects and also give consumers the first glance at what they have been working on. Luckily, the pandemic has pushed companies to release their own ‘virtual events’ that give consumers and journalists to see what they have been working on. Big name companies like Apple and Samsung have already shown the world that virtual events are slowly becoming the norm - at least for the moment. Not only that, many non - IT companies are working on virtual events that allow anyone and everyone to participate in it. Virtual events go to show just how flexible and adaptable a company really is. It is not only businesses that benefit from virtual events. Friends are now able to be an active participant in movie watch-alongs, birthday parties can now be attended from any part of the world - these are just a few examples of how virtual events are currently booming. Gaming networks like Twitch and Discord have recently boomed in popularity and that is all thanks to the fact that these platforms make accessibility to various virtual events a whole lot easier. Let us go a little bit more in depth as to why virtual events are the new norm and a couple of ideas for your first virtual event! Reason 1- CostPeople don’t really need to pay anything to access any virtual event since they aren’t really paying for any service. Services like Discord, have made playing games a lot easier especially due to the fact that they are free and they are like any other messaging services. Not only that, even people who organize these events are significantly saving costs, which greatly help the company from a financial perspective. Reason 2 - SafetyGone now are the days when people used to meet in crowded venues, deciding when a certain event took place. The virus has brought a very important ‘rule’ to the fore - social distancing. People don’t want to contract the virus and spread it to others. It ensures and in a way almost, promotes people to stay at their homes by offering various ways to keep themselves entertained at home. It is a way to ‘safely gather.’ No more money wasted on fancy banquets! Reason 3 - ReusabilityVirtual events allow us to use a platform over and over again, unlike a real venue. Venues often are booked by other people and virtual events is one way of avoiding all of that hassle. Something else that is overlooked is that virtual events are global! People from all over the world can meet up on a platform, eliminating the need to travel long distances which brings us to the next point. Reason 4 - Time is savedMost of us are aware of the old anecdote:- time is money. People don’t really need to visit faraway places anymore which saves a lot of time. They can attend the event even when they travel, which is an awesome thing to do. This is essentially what had happened with recent keynote events like Apple’s WWDC where they had pre recorded what they planned on showcasing and ultimately allowed users like me and you, to access the event whenever you want. You can also rewatch the event at any given point! Reason 5 - Health and SafetyGiven that the pandemic has forced us all to stay at our homes, virtual events have allowed us to take care of our own health. There is no need to call for ambulances when someone gets injured or no more bad food that may cause poisoning at the theatre. Virtual events have essentially allowed us to escape serious health hazards which is something to look forward to. Reason 6 - ComfortWe all love staying at our own home, comfortably sitting and doing whatever you want. Want to walk around naked? No one’s around to judge you. Watching Netflix while you are in a meeting? No one can tell! Another reason to love virtual events is that you can do whatever you want from the comfort of your own home. You can set up a birthday party for your friend, or you can watch movies with a wide audience. You can also showcase your gaming skills to the internet! Virtual Events are awesome! Reason 7 - Saves the environment. This one is actually quite serious. A study in the UK, pointed out that in regular events, people are more likely to throw garbage around them. Virtual events are one of the most sustainable ways that one can host an event today. When one hosts a physical event, say a wedding, so much food goes to waste and rubbish is created. Especially in times where cleanliness and avoiding filth is the norm, virtual events certainly help avoid it and guess what? You don’t even need to worry about those! If you are planning to host your own virtual event, here are some great ideas to help you get started! Bonus: Ideas For Your Next Virtual Event!Trivia Parties! Everyone knows trivia parties are fun. Thanks to the internet, which one can use to their advantage, trivia parties become a lot more fun! There are so many contests that are being held right now and maybe, even your local bar might be conducting one. It also promises quality fun! Be sure to check out our selection of Trivia Zoom Apps, Downloadable Powerpoint Presentations, and Music Bingo Cards. Movie/Sports 'Watch-Alongs' So many YouTubers, Discord servers and Twitch streamers have recently started streaming their favourite anime series, movies etc. and have been watching it with their friends and people who subscribe to them. This is a really fun and unique way as it allows them to interact with each other and discuss fan theories! What are you waiting for? Call your friends and watch your favourite rom-com (if you know, that’s your thing. No judgement!) The future seems to be done on the internet and events are no exceptions. With the world edging towards virtual events, it is safe to say, they will be the way forward in this crazy new world we live in. Here is complete instructions in how to create your own music trivia DJ night. It's super easy to create and host for friends, family, co-workers, or even great for a bar event! The great thing about a music bingo night is it can be casual or interactive, depending on how you want to host it. And it is beyond easy to create. I'll tell you how! Step 1: Print Off Bingo SheetsOk, maybe I got ahead of myself when I said it was free. But it's not far off. The first tiny expense is paper. I walked down to the UPS store and printed off 200 sheets (100 pages) for about ten bucks. If you have your own printer, you are covered there. Now, you can either use my sheets that I have made right here if you are beyond lazy.. Step 2: DJ Music Playlist On Spotify On Shuffle
Step 3: Pens are cheap, but 'dobbers' are better! There is no doubt, that having something fun in your hand to play with makes everyone excited. Bingo Dobbers (sometimes spelled daubers) are an easy way to improve the quality of your show. I highly recommend adding Bingo Dobbers to your events. This is the same thing as printing on coloured paper. Sure, you can simply use regular white paper. The game will still function the exact same. Of course, it will be better for your guests, and maybe you get more repeat customers, if you take the time to buy a stack of coloured paper first. Try a thicker stock of paper, as well. 60lb paper stock works great. That's it. Easy. Fun. Interactive Entertainment. Please comment below for bonus tips!
I want you all to know that we at Fat City are interested in creating awesome live events first and foremost. If you are interested more in what we do, check out the Trivia Store for downloadable music bingo cards and other party games. It's a Monday night and you and all of your friends are scattered among your separate residences with nothing to do. Perhaps one of you is cutting on your PlayStation 4 and another has dusted off their Nintendo Switch; all you know is that whatever you're doing, it's probably not going to be with people who don't live with you. Luckily, Triv101 can change that. Triv101 is the newest trivia game out there for both trivia hosts and trivia enthusiasts alike. If you and your friends and family are looking for something new to do while you hunker down and ride out the COVID pandemic, this is definitely up your alley. What Makes Triv101 Unique? Let's be honest, even if you do want to go out and have a good time, your options are more limited than ever before. Things like movies, theme parks, bars, and pubs are pretty much a no go. On top of that, many people are just afraid to venture out so totally unrestrained. The beautiful thing about Triv101 is that you don't have to go anywhere. It's a web app screen game, so you don't have to get up from that nice butt groove you've made on your couch. A brilliant way to enjoy the game with all of your friends and family is through Zoom. For those of you who may not be familiar with the platform, Zoom allows people to virtually meet each other and collaborate on all sorts of projects. In this case, the screen sharing function will allow everyone to see the Triv101 board with ease. As a web app screen game, Triv101 is incredibly easy to stream Let's Plays with your friends on either YouTube or Twitch. You could think of it as hosting your own version of Jeopardy, except with a much less charismatic version of Alex Trebek. You can even project Triv101 to your tv for your and the family to play if you're all stuck at home together. After you've downloaded the game, you can simply connect your laptop to your tv via an HDMI cable and it'll show the game board. The digital, app-based nature of the game makes it easy for trivia lovers and bored people everywhere to get together and have a good time. The Basic Breakdown of the Game: Like all trivia games, you get questions and you answer them. That part is simple enough to grasp. But the basic structure of the game is a little more complex. There's actually two different versions of Triv101; the free version, we can call this one "basic" and the premium version. The basic version comes "prepackaged" with 350 questions. Now for true trivia enthusiasts, this might not be enough to get your nerd on. If you feel that you need more to fuel your trivia fix, the premium package has 1350 questions for you and your crew to crank your way through. Speaking of, "you and your crew", all of you can actually form into teams to put your knowledge against each other. The point system works much like a game of darts. While you can choose about of points to start with, the default is 101. Once settled on an amount of points, your goal is to get them down to zero. Who is Triv101 For? The obvious answer is, of course, trivia buffs. But, really, you can't go wrong with a few rounds of trivia questions regardless of who you are. You can have everyone get together on Zoom and host a social distancing trivia party or play a few rounds on the laptop with your roommates. There's likely many of you at home right now that are probably anxious and bored. Kicking back with friends and family while trying to guess your way through the answers can be an awesome way to get your mind off of what's going on outside. Triv101 is simple in its execution, but sometimes, simple is best. The true beauty of Triv101 is its versatility. The fact that it's a web app screen game makes it easy to play with others no matter where they might be. Before COVID-19, Triv101 is the kind of game that would have been great for bars and pubs. You could knock back a few cold ones and belt out your trivia knowledge loud and proud in front of everyone. With restrictions lifting, we may be able to see teams of people at parties and workplace gatherings play their way through rounds of Triv101. For now, it's ok to enjoy it from the comfort of your own couch. |
